happy st. patrick's day!

So, no blog entries in over two months. Don’t worry, I have lots of excuses: I’m pregnant, I’m working on multiple events at the same time right now, our living room and half of our kitchen are a construction zone, and it’s winter which means I am completely unmotivated due to lack of solar energy.

One good thing about the colder months is that there are plenty of holidays to give us something to do while we wait for the sun to return. Our family has always been very into St.Patrick’s Day. We’re proud of our partial Celtic heritage and it’s also my parent’s anniversary (39 years!). In recent years (since we are parents now and can’t really go out) we have started the tradition of having a St.Patrick’s Day dinner with my brother and his wife. Since I am pregnant and currently repulsed by meat, AnneMarie is breastfeeding and avoiding dairy to combat Kaia’s eczema, and neither of us can drink, it was hard to come up with a festive meal idea. So, here is what we ended up with.

I forgot to take a photo of the salad which included spinach, arugula, carrots, and orange bell peppers (for the colors of the Irish flag). Also, our playlist for the evening included Mumford & Sons, Flogging Molly, U2, and Dropkick Murphys (a nice blend of the British Isles). Entertainment was the Sounders MLS season opener game.

21 weeks

It was great spending some time with Tim and AnneMarie and getting to snuggle my sweet little nieces. Too bad we didn’t get a picture of the kids in their cute green attire but they were all taking turns melting down so we gave up on that idea. You’ll just have to take my word for it: they were cute.
